Established in 2023, Robinson Speech and Debate has seen the spotlight repeatedly, thanks to founders Ayan Nalamshetty and Devan Patel. Determined and fearless, Ayan and Devan Patel launched the NSDA acclaimed chapter along with the help of sponsor Coach Golden. Graduating in 2025, Ayan and Devan saw the early successes of the team, eventually recruiting Coach Hunter as the debate coach, further enriching the team. Ayan and Devan led the team to their first appearance at the National Speech and Debate Association National Finals, in Des Moines, Iowa in 2024. Notable successes include those of Ayan, Devan, Rishi Kamdar (25’), and the reigning state champions in Policy Debate: Maya Moore (27’) and Blaire Bowles (27’). Fueled by ambition, Coach Hunter brought structure and determination to the team, creating an environment where every voice is heard. His leadership has garnered multiple national circuit tournament breakages, with that of Alina Diaz (27’); Lillian Walker and Tania Mulay (27’); as well as Bella Musolino (26’) and Lucy Boruna (27’), being of those critically acclaimed. Coach Arwen, a substitute teacher for Robinson, was recruited by students and fellow competitors when she revealed she was a national Champion in After-Dinner Speaking. Her leadership and expertise has enabled competitors such as Ammar Omar (26’); Nitin Kurup (28’); and Angeline Grace Moreno (27’) to multiple appearances and breakages at national circuit tournaments. The Robinson Speech and Debate team strives towards its future successes and its title as a nationally competitive team.
